LiveScan is the process of capturing fingerprints electronically using a high-fidelity optical scanner. Unlike traditional wet-ink methods, there is no ink or paper involved, and the digitized fingerprint records are securely transmitted directly to the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the FBI for instant background screening.
The primary difference between Live Scan and traditional ink fingerprinting is how the fingerprints are captured and submitted. Live Scan uses advanced digital technology to electronically capture your fingerprints, allowing them to be transmitted directly to the appropriate state or federal agency. This method is faster, more accurate, and eliminates the risk of fingerprint cards being lost or damaged in transit.

Live Scan technology also provides an inkless fingerprinting experience. If electronic submission is not required, we can print your digital Live Scan fingerprints onto FD-258 fingerprint cards for mailing or submission to agencies that require hard-copy fingerprint cards.
Yes, we offer "digital print-to-card" services. We capture your fingerprints electronically on our LiveScan scanner to ensure perfect ridge capture, and then print them onto standard physical FBI FD-258 cards using an FBI-certified high-resolution printer. This eliminates ink smudging and ensures maximum compliance for out-of-state licensing boards.
You must bring a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a Driver's License or Passport) and your official Fingerprint Request Form provided by your employer or licensing agency. This form contains crucial routing codes (like ORI or Account Numbers) required by state authorities to trace and link your background check to your license application.
Results from FBI background checks can be returned in as little as 30 minutes to a few hours. Electronic LiveScan submissions for Nevada state employment or professional licenses are typically processed within a few business days, depending on the Nevada DPS and FBI caseloads.
If your fingerprint background check is required for employment, licensing, or certification purposes (such as the Nevada State Contractors Board, Nursing Board, Real Estate Division, Gaming Control Board, or other agencies), the results are typically sent directly to the requesting organization.

If you are requesting a personal fingerprint background check for your own records, the results will be sent directly to you.
